Disclaimer:
Flappers are a developmental product with many somewhat unrefined features. Please don’t expect perfection.
1) Flappers can be ugly – Flapper decoys contain a feature which requires 3AAA batteries to produce motion. The “guts” or functional aspects of of flappers are waterproof, durable, light, extremely energy efficient, and more portable than many other motion decoys. However, they contain visible imperfections which arise from the manufacturing process. They won’t win beauty contests, but waterfowl won’t know until it’s too late.
2) Flappers are a work in progress – Flappers contain certain parts made by rapid prototyping. Future models will hopefully be made with mass-produced molded parts, but for now they do not. Please don’t be critical.
3) Flappers have the human touch – Flappers contain paint touched up by hand. Rivets hold the device to the decoy. These rivets are visible if the paint gets rubbed off. Please touch up with whatever paint you like best.
4) Flappers have bumps – The battery compartment protrudes from the duck and is glued in place. Please be forgiving of this feature. It allows easy battery access, is durable, and cost effective.
5) Flappers are not basketballs – Flapper duck tail decoys are produced by adding the tail flapper feature to commercially available standard decoys. Therefore, the decoys have been modified and are thus not quite as durable as before the modification, so take care during transport. Use a decoy bag or container which keeps decoys separated and protects them from excessive impact. Standard soft decoys bags containing separate compartments work fine.
6) Flappers are customized – Flapper decoys are made by a semi-automated process in a small manufacturing facility in Tennessee. These items are not mass produced on the scale of other decoys which may be purchased at major retailers such as Bass Pro, Cabelas, etc. Certain aspects of their assembly is done by hand. Therefore, please don’texpect the product to look like one from a major manufacturer, and please allow for certain features which look homemade.
7) Flappers are improving – These products are being improved upon continually and will hopefully some day become a “finished product” as would appear at a big box store, but for now they are slightly rough around the edges.
8) The site www.duckflapper.com isn’t as big as Walmart. This is a small business, not Amazon, so shipment will take place within a couple of days of the order. The owner has a real job and operates this business part time. Communications will be made during the process to keep the buyer abreast of the status. Put in your contact information!
