Case Study
Ti-DAWGS…titanium felling spikes.
Who will need them?

Original assumption:
According to the hype and online videos and forums and Facebook pages, the only people using the 500i for “real work” are those with huge 4″ felling dogs and the full wrap bar coupled with the beefier aftermarket aluminum billet clutch cover.
False Conclusion: We are wasting our time with anybody else.

After phone discussions with a remote saw shop in hardwood country in the central USA:
In central Indiana it was noted that the saw shop owner we contacted had never actually seen a large aftermarket billet aluminum clutch cover. The overwhelming number of 500i users in his part of the country were using the 500i (Not 500i-R) and standard OEM 500i or maybe 661 dogs. Why?

Needs of customers vary. These customers are cutting logs in hardwood country. Trees can still be large, but loggers want to cut the logs as close to the ground as possible to maximize the log length. They are using 500i with small clutch cover.

Takeaway: That is tailor made for the Ti-DAWGS as they fit with no modification and are of reasonable size. Larger dogs can actually break the saw due to the extra forces on the clutch cover and saw crankcase. Ti-DAWGS are just right.
